Direct Drive (DD) Motor Control Technology
Modern inverter washing machines eliminate belts and pulleys, mounting the BLDC stator directly behind the drum. The motherboard utilizes an IPM module paired with a 2-channel Hall effect rotor position sensor for precise spin speed control.
Common Error Codes:
- LG “LE” Error: Motor locked error or Hall sensor communication failure. Check Hall sensor 15V DC power rail and pull-up resistors on the motherboard.
- Samsung “3E” Error: Motor drive overcurrent. Often caused by cracked solder joints on the high-voltage shunt resistor or dry electrolytic filtering capacitors.
- Whirlpool / IFB Inverter Faults: Unbalanced load sensing circuit drift caused by moisture corrosion around the microcontroller ADC pins.
